Meet Peace

Joy gave birth to Peace, and my new shirts arrived today. I happened to put one on, and I had already asked my cousin if she would take a few pictures for my website while she was here. I’m actually terrible about promoting my own designs and usually just wear Carhartt, but I really like this one. I worked with a real artist on it, and the idea behind it actually means something to me.

Then we went out to see Peace, and the light was perfect. She was out in the field with her mom and was so tame I could just pick her up and hold her. There was no forcing a calf to pose and no mad mama. It was just a sweet calf, a calm cow, my cousin with her camera, and a few pictures that turned out better than anything we could have planned.

The best part was probably how unstressful the whole thing was. We were standing in a cow pasture taking pictures, talking about ideas and things we want to do in the future. After spending so much time feeling like I was just trying to survive or being angry about everything going wrong, it felt really good to just be inspired again.
