Farmland > Wasteland.
I live on a farm, so to me this is more than a catchy phrase on a shirt.
Every year, more farmland disappears. Once a pasture is paved, a farm is divided up, or productive ground is developed, getting that land back into agriculture is nearly impossible. We cannot keep talking about supporting farmers while ignoring the fact that farmers need land to farm.
That is where this design came from.
Farmland > Wasteland is pretty simple. I would rather see cattle in a pasture than another piece of good ground lost. I would rather see land producing food, supporting livestock and staying in the hands of people willing to take care of it.
The artwork is intentionally rough and distressed, with a Highland cow worked into layers of black, gray and red. It has a graffiti and old protest-poster feel rather than looking like a traditional farm shirt. It is a little louder, a little rougher, and exactly the kind of thing I had in mind when I started our Rural Rebellion collection.
This version is printed on a Bella+Canvas 3001 Unisex Jersey Short Sleeve Tee. It is lighter and softer than our heavyweight Comfort Colors version, with a retail fit that makes it an easy everyday shirt.
