Protect Farmland.
I don’t want the places we love to become places we only remember.
I live on a farm in the mountains, and I have watched farmland disappear around us. Pastures become developments. Open land gets paved. Farms that took generations to build can disappear incredibly quickly, and once that ground is gone, there usually isn’t any going back.
That is what this design is about.
The artwork shows two very different futures side by side. On one side is the one I want to keep seeing: Highland cattle in green pastures, barns, mountains and people still working the land. On the other is what happens when we stop valuing that land: concrete, industry, pollution and ground that no longer grows or raises anything.
I know we need places to live and work. I’m not against development. But I do think we need to be a whole lot more intentional about where we put it and what we are willing to lose in the process.
Because protecting farmland isn’t just about keeping a pretty view. It is about protecting the ground our food comes from and making sure there is still land left for the next generation of farmers.
